Cloud Security Engineer (AWS) – Mid Level
July 16th, 2019
In this learning path, you’ll prepare for a security focused engineering role working with Amazon Web Services. You’ll begin by covering the fundamental concepts of cloud security, followed by a deep hands on experience with the core concepts you will need for any IT security role. The second half of this learning path will prepare you to work with AWS in a security-specific context, learning access controls, secure networking, and incident response. When you’re finished, you’ll be ready to start applying for security engineering roles at organizations that run workloads in the Amazon cloud. As a cloud security engineer, you will assess, design, and implement security solutions for an AWS cloud environment. You’ll deploy security applications and workflows, often automating them with code if possible. You will also be responsible for monitoring systems, detecting security incidents, and responding swiftly to mitigate risk. Your job responsibilities may include developing new security tools and processes, managing and administering environment access, and working with other teams to ensure that each action taken within your company’s cloud is secure and compliant with relevant policies. To be successful as a cloud security engineer, you should have at least 2-4 years experience as a systems administrator, cloud engineer, or an equivalent role. You should also have some prior experience with the AWS platform, including at least one associate level certification.
