Passed AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Associate

Hello guys,

Finally reached the first milestone of passing the AWS SA-Associate exam. Please see below my scoring. Its not great but not bad for the first exam in AWS I suppose,

Overall Score: 77%

Topic Level Scoring:

1.0  Designing highly available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, scalable systems: 65%

2.0  Implementation/Deployment: 80%

3.0  Data Security: 100%

4.0  Troubleshooting: 100%

I would request the instructors to advice me how to improve on my weak areas based on the scores

Some of the questions in exam are really tough and need very deep knowledge or perhaps some job expereince . But I tried my level best to grasp as much as I could in 5-6 weeks . Gone through LA course videos twice . Made my own notes and flash cards . Done quizzes three times . Done the final mock exam thoroughly. Read some whitepapers too.

I would  also take the opportunity to give some feedback to Tom on his course. The first half the course up until S3 is 5 star for me . But the second half just touches the topics briefly and its difficult to develop concepts . Its perhaps designed keeping in view the scope of exam. Difficult to judge but perhaps second half topics need to be addressed better in new course for Feb 2018 certification release .

Quizzes need to be made more challenging and should be refereshed regularly with new questions in my opinion. Most of the quiz questions are just taken word by word from orion papers slides ( which is good ) but it would be better if equal number of challenging questions are added in quizzes which have the real feel of the exam.

Having said all that , I would like to Thank LA and especially Tom for his well structured course and I am sure the next courses I am planning to take will be even better.

Thanks all !

Awesome job! Thanks for the feedback. Did you do the new exam or the old one?

I found that really focusing on the labs helps some of the information stick a little better than just the quizzes, but the first AWS exam is definitely eye-opening. They can definitely get tricky with the wording! But still, congrats on the pass!

Hello Derek
Thanks, I appeared in the old one . Yes you are right ,doing the Labs helped a lot . I am sure with time concepts will improve .They definitely use some tricky and confusing terminologies  in the exam which makes questions difficult .

Replying to the user with no name :)  If you can thoroughly go through the mock exam at the end of course ( which has roughly 117 questions ) and understand 100 percent the answers/cpncepts then you should be good in the actual exam.
