Passed the Docker Certified Associate exam!

I have just received my certificate! Took me about two months of study adding to the prior six months of playing around with Docker.  My scores were:

Overall Score: 67%

Topic Level Scoring:

1.0  Orchestration: 78%

2.0  Image Creation, Management & Registry: 54%

3.0  Installation and Configuration: 50%

4.0  Networking: 50%

5.0  Security: 87%

6.0  Storage and Volumes: 83%

Some things I would like to point out:

1. Storage-related questions were deeper than I expected.

2. Understing Namespaces and Cgroups, and how Docker  uses them will net some easy points.

3. There was less DTR/UCP-specific content than I feared. I had no prior EE experience.

4. At least three questions involving docker secrets, I probably got them all wrong. I recommend reading the docs on secrets.

5. The proctored exam is very serious about your desk and surroundings. Not even my coffee cup was allowed, had to clean the desk and navigate the room through the cam.

6. Playing a bit more with the command line reference could've given me some extra points. There were about five questions I wasn't sure of because the answer had commands I didn't use much. I'd recommend knowing the basic stuff by heart (listing, detailing, starting, stopping containers, listing ports, networks, services).

I believe the exam material is very precise when it says the test aimed at people with 6 to 12 months of Docker experience. I fall into that category and passed the exam with 67% (I don't think they tell us what is the grade requirement, but I assume I cut pretty close). If you are completely new, I would suggest a good deal of lab exercising.

I would also like to thank the Linux Academy team and Terrence in particular for the excelent job of guiding us through the material, it was definitely worth the time and money. While I don't think I would have passed with the course alone, it certainly helped me optimize my time while covering almost all of the themes in the test (secrets, I'm looking at you). Combined with some hands-on experience, or labs if you are entirely new, this is a great way to get certified.

Thanks for the feedback. I am considering taking this course next after my current AWS course and it is always nice to know someone's opinion of the course and how easy/hard it is to pass.

So happy for you!

To your point on the proctor, Red Hat are the same way.  You cannot have anyting on the desk or in the floor and you have to pan the camera throughout the whole room.

@"Congrats for the achievement Thiago! One quick question: do you come from an Ops or Dev Background?"

I'm not sure why, but your name is blank so I can't tag you. I come from an OPS background, zero dev knowledge.

Congratulations!

In the coming weeks, I will also be augmenting the course with additional questions in the exam portion of the course and I will go back and add some additional content around storage and the secrets process. Thanks for the feedback!

Well done man and thanks a lot for the really helpfull information

I have two questions if you don't mind,

- Is it all multiple choice or hands-on questions too?

- Did the end of the course questions helped you in the exam?

Congratulations!

I’d love to endorse/recommend you on LinkedIn if you want. All you have to do is add me as a connection and add Linux Academy as your school. Once you do that, post a picture of your cert about passing in your feed and reference me within the original post. Once I see this, I’ll be able to recommend you for your hard work on your LinkedIn profile.

Thanks,

Anthony
