I'm happy to share that I passed the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator exam today. This makes it three in three weeks for me after the Developer and the Architect certifications.
Thanks to the LinuxAcademy community and to Christophe Limpalair in particular for another excellent course.
This exam was decidely tougher than the other two Associate-level exams, but Christophe's course covered all topics in sufficient detail. There were a number of questions (a third or more out of 55) which were of the multi-select variety (select 2, or select 3), which made the test a bit trickier.
The thrust of the exam was on ELBs, Autoscaling, networking, security, and Cloudwatch. I was surprised to see only one question each on CloudFormation and OpsWorks, and a couple of questions on policies. Unlike the Developer and the Architect exams, this exam tests the depth of your understanding of a few areas, instead of a broad set of topics.
As with the other courses, I'd say watching the videos, taking good notes as you go along, and completing the labs and quizzes should be enough to pass the exam. Of course, any practical experience on these services would be a definite plus.
Good luck to everyone, and it's off to the Professional certs for me!
Congratulations, Vijay, and thanks for the exam feedback!
