Docker Certified Associate – Be Among the First Certified!

Posted on October 1, 2017 by TerryCoxTerryCox

With the recently announced ‘Docker Certified Associate’ as the first (and currently only) official Docker certification (you can read more about the announcement here), you may be wondering how you can prepare for the certification. If you are, then you are at the right place! Launched on December 22nd, 2017 – right here!

Docker Certified Associate

After you have had a chance to read through the announcement, you will want to take a look at the detailed objectives for this certification. This certification is going to focus on the Enterprise Edition of Docker, along with Docker Swarm, and Docker implementation on AWS. At a high level, the exam will cover the following domains with the questions in each domain weighted as indicated in parentheses:

  1. Orchestration (25% of Exam Questions)
  2. Image Creation, Management, and Registry (20% of Exam Questions)
  3. Installation and Configuration (15% of Exam Questions)
  4. Networking (15% of Exam Questions)
  5. Security (15% of Exam Questions)
  6. Storage and Volumes (10% of Exam Questions)

Docker will be releasing this exam for attendees of DockerCon Europe on October 16, 2017. This exam is intended to be the first in a stack of expected certifications from Docker over the coming year. It will consist of 55 multiple choice/fill in the blank questions and can be taken online anywhere in the world over an 80-minute time limit window.

How You Can Be Prepared

In anticipation of the Docker Certified Associate Exam, Linux Academy has already begun work on the course that will cover all the objectives and topics you need to be successful. In November of this year, we will be launching our official ‘Docker Certified Associate Preparation Course‘ right here on Linux Academy. All of the features that you have come to know and love will be part of this course: You will find the comprehensive video demonstrations we are famous for, along with our Hands-On Labs (for your scenario-based practice), Exercises, Flash Cards and of course, the in-depth practice exam questions that will have you prepared to succeed on the exam.
In the interim, if you are wondering what all of this ‘Docker stuff’ is about, we have a great introduction to Docker and containers for you in our Docker Quick Start course available right now. If you would like a more in-depth course while you wait for the certification course, we have our ever-popular Docker Deep Dive to hold you over until then.

Next Steps

Over the course of the next month, be sure you check our blog (right here) for additional details as the release date for both the certification and the course ticks closer. I will be posting my thoughts around the exam itself and give you some tips and tricks for preparing for it (ones that you can easily apply to any certification exam, no need to exclude anybody). Linux Academy is excited to be among the first to provide training to prepare you for success in this exam. Drop us your thoughts about this exciting new certification below!
Don’t forget to check back, this course has launched and you can find it right here!

This is good news. LinuxAcademy was a huge help in getting my AWS Developer and DevOps certifications, I’m sure the Docker content will be equally helpful.

Thanks LA, as always you provide best DevOps toolset and bleeding edge technology courses. Docker was something awaiting for me to have a official certification beside kubernetes. also a suggestion to be cloud agnostic (to have Azure/AWS/…)

Are you guys already #1 in online Linux training? If not, keep this up and you will be. I can hardly keep up with the fast growing list of courses just since I have been a member but this is going to be on my short list.

Can we take it from our computer, or is the certification limited to docker con participants only?

It is a self-paced course that you can take from anywhere on your computer. Not limited to DockerCon.. If you’re interested in learning more about Docker or getting certified, check us out! We also have this Docker study group that you can join!
