When we launched the Linux Academy for Business platform, we had it set up where you had to accept a request to allow someone to join your organization(no auto-accept). Our reasoning was to protect an organization’s auto-join link. If this were public and unmonitored, an external person could sign-up, and automatically take up a license from the license pool. While this secure workflow helped prevent a lot of potential issues, we also know that our customers like choices. Originally, we provided two options:
- Require that invites be accepted
- Send direct invitations
Today, I’m happy to announce we have pushed a new feature that auto-accepts any requests to join your organization. This helps reduce the amount of time and friction in getting your users online and training.
The Auto-Accept feature once enabled, works for all your Request to Join URLs. Every group on your organization has a Request to Join URL, either for a full license or to join a specific group. Linux Academy provides these links as they help to quickly add learners, which can be a huge time saver when attempting to add large groups to your organization in a short period of time.
How to Enable Auto-Accept
- Open your Linux Academy for Business dashboard.
- Click on Administration from the navigation bar and then select Manage Invitations.
- Select the Enable Auto-Accept for Request to Join Links button under Organization Join Link.
- (Optional) Enter a domain for the Auto-Accept.
- Select Confirm.
From now on, when someone requests to join your organization, it will auto-accept their request.
Selecting Auto-Accept will give the option to choose which domain Auto-Accept will work on. This helps limit who can join your organization to only those who are a part of that domain.
You can change the domain at a later date if need be, or remove it altogether. Linux Academy does recommend setting a domain to help protect your license pool and restrict the automatic acceptance to those within your organization.
