I recently came across the need to uninstall xcode from my Mac OSX Lion. However, now that xcode is distributed through the app store and not the apple developer portal, it has become more difficult to do. Despite logic, you cannot go to the app store (currently) and uninstall the app. Follow allow below to see how we were able to quickly uninstall and reinstall our xcode.

Follow these two simple steps to uninstall xcode.

1.) Remove xcode from the system.
– Open up terminal, type the command below

sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all

2.) Even though we removed xcode, if you open up the app store it still shows installed. Fix it by opening up "Applications" in finder then removing "Install xcode"
Open up mac app store and there you go!

Happy coding!
